After i had it rma'd for the 4th time I have had zero issue's with this display. Prior I experienced this, power off, black screen, etc. No idea what they did the last time but it was fixed, other than the glossy plastic screen cover coming lose. But I didn't dare rma it again. It works! Been 4 years now. My only advice is to rma the !@#$ out of it. Unfortunately.
My understanding is that it does not have a sata chipset, but it uses the USB 3.0 bus. Which would also explain why an external drive is not supported as it would use up the bandwidth. Will this part not be available due to their need being a special calibration or hardware step? Having past six months this makes one think the part is not possible with end user due to another factor.
