Touching this screw is unnecessary.
Removing the bracket is completely unnecessary. Simply remove the top three screws on each bracket, and slide the trackpad out.
I’m still not clear on how exactly the keyboards are different - all the snark got in the way, but quite bemused by the ‘angry owl’!
I did both L and R with subwoofer, no troubles. Thanks for the Parts 2, iFixit!!
Done! No troubles - thanks for the parts, iFixit!
Another irrelevant SS reference. How about Huawei? They are bigger than the slowly dying SS. You guys being paid for placement?

I managed to bend the casing out when opening, but bent it back in shape after re-opening. The bend was small, but noticable. Worth reopening it.
One issue - the battery doesn't fully recharge in one go. I have to reconnect the iPod to get it to full charge.
Just replaced the back panel, installed home button mechanism and new battery - all went just as planned except...
I beheaded the battery connector screw! It all works at the moment. SO nice having the home button working properly again.
I also trapped the rear cable under the screen - I used a flathead screwdriver to push the fold through the slot. And the replacement back panel is not to Apple's original standards, but clean and clear none the less.
Great work iFixit!!!
