Printer will Not Print

The printer is turned on but will not print, and some of the lights on the control panel are flashing.

Paper Jam

Make sure the paper tray and output tray are open and remove the jammed paper from the printer. Slide the new paper into the paper tray so that is all the way to the right, but still lying flat. Then slide the guard inside the paper tray to the right so that it is holding the paper, make sure the paper is still flat.

Power will Not Work

The printer will not turn on at all, which can be seen because the power button won't light up and there is no response from the printer.

Power Compatibility

Unplug the printer from its power source (surge protector, extension cable, power strip). Plug the power cord into a working wall outlet, press the power button. If the printer still won’t turn on, make sure the power supply is compatible with the printer. Do this by using the original power supply of the printer, then make sure the voltage and amperage specifications on the power module match the specifications on the printer.

Power Reset

To reset the printer, disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall then wait 15 seconds. Plug the cord back into the printer then into a wall outlet. Press and release the power button, this will start a power on/off cycle. If the printer still won’t turn on, try using a different power cord with the printer.

Low or No Ink

This can be seen when printed pages are faint in color intensity or the computer alerts the user to having low ink.

Check Ink Levels

On a computer with the software for the Deskjet 3000 Printer, open the control panel on the computer. Click on the printer and ink levels with be shown.

Change Ink Cartridge

The ink compatible with this printer is HP61 Black or Tri-Color ink. To replace ink, open the cartridge door. To remove the cartridge press on it and then pull outwards. Unwrap the new cartridge, including the protective pink tape. Slide the new ink into the designated slot, with color on the left and black on the right. Then, close the cartridge door. The printer will automatically align the ink, and the ink change will be complete.

No Network Connection

Three options are available to connect your HP Deskjet 3000 Printer to a network. If the router permits, press the sync button on the back. A blue light will flash on the printer signaling a connection. Now insert the installation cd that came with the printer. Two possible routes exist from here. Follow the onscreen prompts until Connection Type is reached. There will be two options: Network or USB. If USB is selected connect one end of a USB cable to the back of the printer and the other to the computer. The other option would be to select Network. After both of these options there will be onscreen instructions to follow to complete the process.

Installation Failure

If instillation doesn't start automatically when inserting the printer’s software into the computer, first try installing the software from the HP website. To do this, turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the computer to printer. Search for HP Drivers & Downloads then type the printer model number, click go, select operating system and next, and click Driver – Product installation Software from the scroll down list. Click download and follow the on-screen
