Power Issues

Laptop constantly cycles off and on during startup

Try booting to the BIOS settings menu and resetting the boot order to the default settings. This is done on startup. When the screen is blank, press the F10 key. Press the F9 key to reset the BIOS settings. Press the F10 to save the changes and exit the settings menu.

Laptop has a constant black screen upon powering up

If you have one available, try connecting an external monitor to the laptop, then using the Function + F4 key combination, switch the display to use the monitor instead of the laptop. If this is successful, the issues likely lies in the laptop's display and needs a replacement.

Laptop has no power at all

Make sure the battery actually has charge in it. Plug in the power cord and see if it turns on then. If not, unplug the power cord and take out the battery. Hold the start button down for about a minute to release electricity from unit. Afterwards, plug the power supply back in and try to start your laptop. If this works, shut down the machine and put the battery back in. If it does not, you might need to clean the fan or replace the heat sink. To do so, refer to the heat sink replacement guide to get to the fan or heat sink.
