== Device Not Turning On ==

''The device does not respond when the power button is pressed or shuts off randomly.''

=== Battery Is Empty ===

If the built-in battery is empty, the device will not function. The CHARGE indicator will flash 3 times and turn off when you attempt to turn on the speaker if the battery is in fact empty. If this occurs, charge the battery.

=== Auto Standby Function has been activated ===

Under certain circumstances, like when the volume of the audio input is low, the power will automatically turn off after about 15 minutes if the conditions remain constant. This is most often caused by the Auto Standby Function being activated. It is recommended to raise the volume of the connected device, or set the Auto Standby function to “off” in order to prevent this from occurring.

=== Speaker Volume Is Too Loud ===

When the speaker is played at a loud volume it has the potential to cause the remaining power of the battery to decrease at a much more rapid pace. Under these conditions, the speaker may turn off entirely even while it is connected to an AC outlet by a USB AC adaptor. This is not considered a malfunction, however it is recommended that you turn off the speaker and let the battery fully charge before attempting to use the device again.

== Bluetooth Not Connecting ==

''The speaker is unable to connect/pair to BLUETOOTH device.''

=== Out of Range ===

The speaker and the BLUETOOTH device must be within 1 meter, or 3.2 feet, of each other in order for the connection to be successful. If the problem persists, try to place the devices as close as possible to one another before attempting to connect them via BLUETOOTH again.

=== Speaker is undetectable via BLUETOOTH ===

It is possible that the speaker does not appear on the BLUETOOTH device’s list of connections when attempting to pair them. When this occurs, it is best to turn off the BLUETOOTH function on the device, wait for about 15 seconds, and then turn the BLUETOOTH function back on again.

=== BLUETOOTH Pairing Mode Has Not Been Activated ===

The speaker has a BLUETOOTH indicator that double flashes in blue when the pairing mode is activated. If the indicator is not double flashing in blue, you must press the BLUETOOTH button again to activate the pairing mode. You should hear a beep and the BLUETOOTH indicator will start double flashing. This means that the pairing mode has been initiated and you can now pair your devices.

=== Speaker Has Already Been Initialized ===

If an iPhone/iPod touch attempts to connect to the speaker while it has already been initialized, it may not be able to successfully do so. For this issue, it is best to delete the pairing information on the iPhone/iPod touch and then attempt to pair it with the speaker again.

== Unable To Charge Device ==

''The device does not turn on when connected to a power source.''

=== Loose Charging Cable ===

While connecting a charging cable to the device ensure that the cable is properly inserted into the device’s charging port.

=== Obstructed Charging Port ===

When connecting the device to a power source check the charging port for any debris that could prevent the device from charging.

=== Incompatible Charging Adaptor ===

When choosing a charging block (USB AC Adaptor) be mindful of that the block is at a mA current of at least 500. Blocks under the required current are not suited to charge the device.

== Low Volume ==

''The audible volume of the speaker is low even when the volume is high.''

=== Device or Speaker Set On Low Volume ===

While the volume may be high either on the speaker or the BLUETOOTH device connected to the speaker, check to make sure that the volume of both devices is turned up.

=== Low Battery ===

If the charge on the speaker’s built-in battery begins to run low, the speaker’s volume will automatically switch to playing low. To fix this issue, turn the speaker off and charge its battery sufficiently.

=== High Volume For Extended Period ===

Even if the speaker is plugged in, if you have the volume set too high for a long period of time, it will still continue to lose charge, leading to lower volumes. Either lower the volume or turn the device off and charge it sufficiently to fix this issue.

== Distorted Sound ==

''The sound from the speaker is playing with improper added noises/disruptions.''

=== Low Battery ===

If the charge on the speaker’s battery gets low, it may disrupt the sound playing from it. To avoid this, make sure that the device is charged sufficiently.

=== Speaker / Device Out Of Range ===

When the speaker is out of range from the BLUETOOTH device connected to it, the sound playing from the speaker will be disrupted and may lead to distorted sound. Simply bring the devices closer together to remedy this.

=== Interfering Objects / Devices ===

There are many devices and/or objects that can hinder the connection of the speaker to the connected BLUETOOTH device, thus resulting in distorted sound. Make sure that the device is away from microwave ovens, Wi-Fi, TVs, radios, tuners, etc., as these will disrupt the connection of the speaker to the device. If the issue still persists, make sure there are no objects in between the speaker and the connected BLUETOOTH device.

=== Speaker Connection Feature Not Set To Stable Connection ===

The Sony SRS-XB13 has a feature that allows you to change the priority of the BLUETOOTH connection between “priority on sound quality” and “priority on stable connection” (it is automatically set on priority on sound quality). If the sound from your speaker contains disruptions, consider switching to priority on stable connection. To do so, make sure the speaker is on. Then hold the play and BLUETOOTH buttons at the same time for about 2 seconds. The speaker will go off, and the BLUETOOTH indicator will flash. If it flashes 3 times, it means you are now set to priority on stable connection, but if it flashes 2 times, then you are set to priority on sound quality.

=== Equalizer Function On Connected Device ===

You may need to determine if your BLUETOOTH device connected to the speaker has an equalizer function. If so, make sure to disable this as it can alter the sound that comes from the speaker.
