Revision to UE Boom 2 Is Not Producing Sound

Austin Blakely

Does your UE Boom 2 portable speaker refuse to produce any sound, even though it is turned on and the power light is on? UE Boom 2 speakers are susceptible to a range of problems that could cause them to stop producing sound. Check the following possible causes to identify and solve the problem.

If the speaker is turned on and the power light is on, but there isn’t any sound coming out of the speaker, the speaker’s volume might not be turned up to an audible volume. Press the Volume Up ‘+’ button on the side of the speaker to turn the speaker’s volume up. Then, try to play music through the speaker, again.

If the speaker’s volume is turned up but you are still not hearing any sound, your phone, tablet, or other device connected to the speaker might not have its volume turned up. Make sure the volume on your device is turned up to an audible level and try to play music through the speaker, again.
-== Cause 3: Device is not Paired ==

To stream music to your UE Boom 2 speaker, there must be a device paired to it through Bluetooth. Check to make sure your device is connected to the speaker. If the device is not connected to the speaker via Bluetooth, see this [[UE Boom 2 Bluetooth Pairing Is Not Working|UE Boom 2 Bluetooth Pairing Is Not Working problem page]] for possible causes and solutions.
-== Cause 4: Auxiliary Cable Not Connected Properly ==
+== Auxiliary Cable Not Connected Properly ==
It is important to note that the UE Boom 2 speaker was designed to be used with a 3-pole (non-microphone or inline remote cable) auxiliary connector. Do not use a 4-pole (with inline microphone) cable, or you may experience problems with sound. Plug the 3-pole 3.5mm auxiliary cable into the speaker and check to see that the sound is turned up on both the device and the speaker.
-== Cause 5: Faulty Speaker ==

If you have tried all of the above fixes and your UE Boom 2 speaker is still not producing any sound, you may have a faulty internal speaker component. Use the [guide|103684|UE Boom 2 Speaker replacement guide] to replace the device’s internal speaker.
