Touch Screen not working
Lenovo G500s Touch Screen does not turn on its display or inoperative.
Touch Screen Damage
Make sure that the screen is intact and there is no visible damage to the screen. If the screen is not intact or has visible damage which can include cracks in the screen, consider repairing the screen.
Driver Issues
Ensure that your touchscreen driver found in the system settings is not corrupt and is up to date. If the driver is not up to date or the file for the touch screen option is corrupt, the touchscreen option can be altered and become unavailable. If this is the case, you must reinstall the touchscreen driver. This can be found in Device Manager. Click action on the top of the windows, select scan for hardware changes. After this step, the system should reinstall the driver, and you should restart your laptop for completing the installation.
Incorrect Settings
Look at the settings of the computer and make sure that the touchscreen option is enabled. This can be found in the device manager. Select the arrow next to Human Interface Devices. Select HID-compliant touchscreen, and select action at the top of the window. Finally, select Enable Device. If the touchscreen option is not enabled, enable it.
Software Not Up to Date
Try installing any software updates that the computer or operating system may need. Make sure that all updates are consistently installed on the system.
Battery Issues
Lenovo G500s Touch Battery needs an inspection.
Insufficient Charge
Confirm that the laptop battery is plugged into a working outlet. Make sure that you charge the battery for enough time. The battery needs a proper outlet and an allotted amount of time to have the battery reach a power setting for the computer to operate. Your battery life can be found in the bottom right corner of your screen next to the wifi symbol.
Improper Installation
Confirm that the battery is in the right place. This includes looking at all contact points and making sure that the battery is locked into the computer back. You can attempt to remove the battery.
Incorrect Settings
Look at the battery settings in the computer system to see if there are any options chosen that may drain the battery.
Physical Damage
Remove the battery and confirm that there is no damage to the battery, including all contact points. The way to remove the battery can be found in our guide “Removing and Replacing the Battery.”

Improper Restart
Restart your device. You can restart your device by holding down the power button. This will completely turn off your device. Once it is turned off, you will be able to hold the power button down again to turn your computer back on. Another way to restart is to click on the windows tab in the bottom left corner of your screen. Click the power button, and click restart.
Launch Device Manage Not Up to Date
Click the arrow next to “DVD/CD-ROM drives,” and check for any updates to the “HL-DT-ST DVD.” If the driver needs an update, it will install and restart. If this does not work, go back to the same place and check the “Properties.” Select the “General” tab. The device will try to give you more information as to why this device is not working.
Manual Eject
If it still does not work, look for the manual eject hole. This is located at the disc tray, to the lower right of the disc tray eject button. You will need a small, narrow tool (or a paperclip) to insert into the hole. Gently press into the manual eject hole until the disc drive opens. This may not permanently fix the issue, but you have a way to open the disc drive.
