The device doesn’t turn on
When trying to turn on the device, it may not turn on due to multiple issues. This includes a faulty motor or the device not getting enough problems. Below we have listed solutions that may solve the problem.
The motor doesn’t work:
If the motor stops working, it could be caused by multiple issues including lack of power, loose trigger, or other problems. However, the most reasonable case would be loose connections between the motor, trigger, and saw mechanism. Therefore, by soldering the wires to the connections, the problem could be fixed as shown in this link: Motor Wire Fix
Not getting enough power:
The device might not work properly or turn on if it’s not receiving enough power. To fix this issue, you could solder the wires between the battery unit and the motor/mechanism to ensure there is a power transfer as shown in this link: Battery Wire Fix
Otherwise, if the battery unit is destroyed or rusty, you could replace the batter unit entirely. The replacement battery unit can be found here: Replacement Battery
The trigger switch isn’t functioning properly
You may experience an issue where the trigger switch on your device does not function properly, where it either does not push in, is pushed in too easily, or pushes fine, and just does not power the device.
Defective trigger switch
If you find that the switch isn't turning on the device, you may need to solder the wires in the trigger switch. This can done as shown in this link: Trigger Wire Fix
Dirt and Debris in the switch
If your switch is properly functioning, but is not getting its signal to the power unit, it probably too much dirt and debris built up inside of it. This is a common issue with power tools, and all you have to do is take apart the main shell, and clean/wipe down as much of the area around the trigger as possible as shown in this link: Gear/Switch Dirt and Debris cleaning
Trigger is jammed
If your trigger instead does not push in at all, you should first check to be sure the battery is properly placed inside, and your lock switch is on the correct setting. If these are both true, and it still is giving heavy resistance, there could be some internal part blocking the trigger, disallowing you to push it in. More information on getting into your device to remove the issue can be found on our repair guide here: Jammed Trigger Fix
Jig Saw makes a squealing noise
Rust/ worn gears need to be cleaned
A recommendation for anyone experiencing noises coming from In order for the drive to work properly, the porter cable needs to be cleaned extensively for the best results. When you’re looking for cleaning products, make sure to avoid flammable solutions. Another tip while trying to clean your device is to make sure you don’t soak your device in these cleaning products. You may experience some faulty parts in the porter cable if you don’t moderate the amount of cleaning supplies needed. There could also be some additional supplies needed such as WD-40, silicone spray, lithium grease, etc. Any of these supplies would be tremendous to have because it’ll make the screws within the porter cable work smoother and get rid of the squeaky noise. Check this link for a step by step tutorial: Rust/Worn Gears
Loose screws need to be tightened with a tool kit
Another solution to try and fix any noises coming from your porter cable is to make sure there aren't any loose screws. In order to do this, a toolkit is suggested to try and get the screws back into place. You want to make sure the screws are secure and set because it can be very dangerous if they are. You could potentially put yourself in harm's way if any of the screws come while operating this device. You can also go the route of purchasing a kind of epoxy resin to work as an adhesive. Make sure to not apply too much because you don’t want the resin to get in between gears or have the screw stuck in the wrong position
Other Issues
Loose blade unit
The blade is loose, and it does not work properly while the portable cable jigsaw is on. To fix in, use the provided with the jig saw to screw the blade unit in tightly. This will make sure the blade is secured to the jigsaw and works properly.
