The battery did the trick to get the old iPod working again like new. In hindsight, I would not have purchased the tool kit since the pry tool did not work and I needed a razor blade (not supplied) to pry the case open. I ended up using none of the tools in the kit to complete the job except the Torx screwdriver to loosen a part to route the battery wire more easily (although I probably could have done it without the screwdriver).
