Apple Watch (42 mm Series 3 Cellular) Battery

The kit itself is great. Contains all you need to get the battery replaced. The battery in the kit was totally dead, despite everything else was top notch. I left the product review accordingly. iFixit contacted me on their own and offer to send the replacement battery. Again - I didn't even contacted them for a replacement. So long story short - second battery was received, I replaced it in a few minutes and now my Apple Watch can operate 2 days without charging again. Same way as when it was new. Thank you, iFixit for a very good customer support.

The kit as itself is pretty good and all you need to do the replacement successfully. What's not OK is the quality of the replacement battery. After initial calibration each consecutive charge level was dropping rapidly. The very first charge was somewhat ok - the watch almost made it through the day (while the original battery was good for 2 days when new), but the second charge was ok for about 3 hours. After that the watch didn't take a charge at all. When it showed empty battery - I put it on a charger and it was showing the full charge right away (which of course wasn't the case). Looks like the cheap knockoff battery from Amazon. It's a shame because the other components in the kit were pretty good quality. I can't speak about he adhesive quality yet - I didn't attempt to open the watch the second time yet.

The tool kit was great, and the repair kit seemed really complete and they even had extra adhesives and gaskets. I had two problems: I got the installation done, but my Apple Watch basically stopped working afterwards. It took forever to restart, and then struggled to pair with my phone. I tried for about an hour to reset it and at this point, it won't connect to anything, so it's basically bricked. I decided to open it up again to see if there was a connector that had come undone, and when I went to pull the screen back off, it basically came off just with a small amount of pressure with my fingernail. I had thoroughly cleaned all of the surfaces before I assembled it with isopropyl, and had pressed the assembly tightly together, and it had sat overnight after I was done. So, yeah. I don't think the supplied gaskets would have been waterproof or have held up to rugged use like the OEM ones. I frequently run, hike, do manual work and I'd be worried that my watch would come apart. No tech support available according to the website, so I'm stuck. I'll have to throw my old watch away, and I hard to order a new one from Apple. All that said, I have generally had great experiences with iFixit products, so this is pretty disappointing. So, anyone considering this repair: just be aware that you might be money and time ahead by just buying a new watch.
