Nintendo Switch (2017 HAC-001) Game Card Reader

I bought this part to fix my nieces and nephews' Switch over the holidays. I could have gambled with a less reputable seller for half the price, but I wanted to make sure that I got it working when I had the chance, so I bought it from iFixit. Unfortunately, my faith in iFixit parts was misplaced. This part was defective. The game card reader worked, but the touch screen did not. There were phantom touches constantly with the device going crazy. If I were reading this review, my first thought would be that this guy messed up the cable connection and is blaming the part. I can assure you that I did not. Aside from having a lot of experience with this sort of repair, I very carefully reinstalled the part several times. I did A/B/A tests with the old part. Each time, the game card reader worked with the new part, but the touch screen did not (and vice-versa). I even cleaned the connection with some isopropyl to try to give it the best chance of working, but it did not. If I were doing this again, I would have just bought several $20 parts from someone else with the hope that one of them worked. The tips on the included screwdriver were nice though. No signs of wear after replacing this part over and over again.

Received product 24 hours ago and attempted the repair. The tools and instructions were helpful and easy to follow. The problem was that the part did not fix the issue and actually made the issues worse. I was unable to use the device until I put the old part back in my switch. I have placed a support ticket yesterday but haven’t heard anything from support other than an automatic message. So at the moment it is a two star review.

Fantastic replacement seamless installation. The Animal Crossing Nintendo switch that my Mom has had a damaged card reader and needed a replacement without spending $100 on Nintendo repair service. I ordered the part and within a few days it arrived. Installed following the guide and works perfect just like new. Only took 25 mins to install.
