Hi @cristianob69493

What is the model name and number of the laptop as there a a few different Honor models?

Try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the laptop screen and check if you can see any images on the screen when the laptop have been turned on.

They will be very faint if they are there so try this in a darkened room.

If you can see images then there may be a backlight problem with the display. Has the laptop been dropped or gotten wet at all?

If you can't see any images try connecting an external monitor (TV?) to the laptop's HDMI port and check if there a display from the laptop showing on it.

Don't forget to press whatever key (or keys) are required to switch the display from the laptop's screen to the external display.

Not sure but maybe Fn + F9 both together and then you need work out how to select the 2nd screen only option - arrow down key then Enter perhaps idk.

I assume the model is a Huawei Magicbook 14 or 15 as you only gave the CPU type.

My answer was only to find out if it did turn on and boot into Windows so there would be a display somewhere either on the laptop screen or on an external monitor or whether it didn't even get that far i.e. did not pass POST (Power On Self Test)

You have to start somewhere when trying to find out what's happening so when the screen doesn't turn on after you start it, try the suggested course of action above. Even if it is intermittent as you say, at the moment you don't really know if it is starting properly or not.

Lights on and fan running only tell you so much and not more. The fan is turned on very early in the startup process before the Windows Operating system is loaded, as you don't want the laptop to even start if the CPU can't be cooled. Just because it is on doesn't mean other hardware components are OK. They are all checked in POST before Windows is loaded.

If your Huawei Honor laptop is giving a black screen when you turn it on, but the Caps Lock and FN keys light up and you can hear the fan, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

1. **Hard Reset**:

- Disconnect the power adapter and remove any connected peripherals.

- Press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds to drain any residual power.

- Reconnect the power adapter and try turning the laptop on again.

2. **Check Display**:

- Try connecting your laptop to an external monitor to check if the display is working. If the external monitor shows a display, the issue might be with your laptop's screen or its connection.

3. **Boot into Safe Mode**:

- Power on your laptop and immediately start pressing the F8 or Shift + F8 key repeatedly to see if you can boot into Safe Mode. If successful, there might be a software issue causing the problem.

4. **BIOS/UEFI Access**:

- Try accessing the BIOS or UEFI settings by pressing the F2, F10, F12, or Del key (the specific key varies by model) immediately after turning on the laptop. If you can access the BIOS, it indicates that the hardware is likely functioning, and the problem may be with the operating system or drivers.

5. **Reseat RAM and Storage**:

- If you are comfortable doing so, you can try reseating the RAM and storage devices. Turn off the laptop, unplug it, remove the back cover, and carefully remove and reinsert the RAM and storage devices.

6. **Battery Reset**:

- If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing it, holding the power button for 20 seconds, and then reinserting the battery and powering on the laptop.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be necessary to seek professional repair services, as there could be a hardware problem that requires expert attention.
