replace hard drive with OEM unit
I have a MacBook Pro A1151. can i replace the hard drive with an OEM Seagate 7400.4 drive, eg ST9250410AS ?

Yes. Start up from your System Installation disk by holding down the "C" key. Go to the second page pull down menu to Utilities -> Disk utility and format the drive. Also set it to one partition. Then continue with your system installation.
