Water damage need information

I jumped in a pool and my m8 came with me. I've had it I'm rice and only the charge light will come on. The main thing I'm worried about is getting all of the pictures and contacts from my phone. Is there any way to get that all back?

Options

open your HTC (remove back cover), remove battery and wait approx. 2 days, then you can switch on and back up all your data. HTC maybe still work for a little bit time after this.
