I fixed mine with a 12V Battery 3S1P 12.6V/11.1V 2500mAh 18650 Lithium-ion Battery Pack with 5A BMS . I cut the original molex connectors and added my own. It's working great and was a $12 fix!

how did you open it up to replace the battery? I haven't seen any walkthroughs and don't want to destroy it in the process.
yes would love to know that too
It would be hard to destroy. The speaker is very rugged. In general, don't pull anything too hard. Once you've removed all of the screws it separates in half pretty easily.
Basic process for opening the case.
1. Put speaker side face down and remove dust plugs (They are rubber plugs that block the recessed screws. Remove all 10 of the plugs and screws.
2. On the left and right side of the back where the 3 screws were, those plastic pieces popout and reveal 4 more screws that keep the handles attached. Remove the handle screws and the handles.
3. Remove any other screw that remain except for the two the keep the dust covers on. (these can stay with the bottom).
4. Now, separate the case in half. You've got some room to do this, but don't try to yank them apart, theres a pair of wires that connects the bottom bass speaker to the board inside.
5. From here you can see the battery. A STRONG adhesive keeps the battery in its place. Take your time removing it to be sure not to puncture the battery. Lithium Ion batteries can be dangerous if abused. Then follow the wires where the battery connects. In this place I put my own connectors in. Or if you get a battery pack that has the same connection then it is just plug and play.
6. Once everything is in place, let it all charge for a while, then run it. Mine worked fine. Do all this at your own risk. I always wear safety glasses as a paranoid precaution, but it's up to you.

It's pretty simple. You remove the case screws and separate the turtle shell in the middle. From there you just unplug the battery and pry it out. The battery is attached with a strong adhesive tape. You cannot be gentle when removing, just make sure not to puncture the lithium ion battery. Wear safety glasses and the screws are hidden beneath the little rubber plugs.
