Can the chip be upgraded?

I have an Intel Celeron chip, which is functioning fine but always wanted to upgrade to a duo level processor. Is this possible without replacing any other parts? Thank you

The processor (CPU) can physically be removed and replaced with a faster one but it is very difficult and expensive and rarely cost-effective. The best upgrade is to maximize the memory (2 or 4 gigs depending on exact model), upgrade to Windows 7 (64 bit if you have 4 gigs of memory) and install a 7200 rpm hard drive.

What is the difficulty?

@bluebutterfly You need to have a basic understanding of how the hardware inside a computer has plus know how to handle certain parts, if this is not done correctly it can damage your computer.
