engine backfiring when first starting
help engine is backfiring changed plug changed air filter and filled gas tank very hard to start then backfires

@hotwheels , Leroy ,Causes of backfire on start up, bad fuel, frayed/damaged plug wires(Shorting out), valve damage, valve adj.,valve push rod damaged, ignition/wires shorting, coil shorting/faulty, restricted exhaust, flywheel key damage(allowing timing to be out), dirty/faulty/adj. carburetor, blown head gasket. Possible water in fuel. My mower was running like a champ until i filled it with the rest of old gas in a can. I think it has water in the fuel, or dirt got into the main jet. I've had debris stuck in the main jet on other mowers in the past, just need to carefully disassemble the carb and remove all particles of dirt. Very common repair.
