Wont charge or turn on at all.

So someone my mom works with gave me a ipod nano 3 to fix. Woulnt turn on, so i replaced the battery. Now it works. But now, when she plugs it in, it is dead. She said i can just keep it as she got another one. What could i try?

UPDATE:

So now this iPod turns on and works, but the battery does not charge at all. It says it is charging but does not. When unplugged it shuts down instantly. What do I do about this.

Try doing a hard reset. Hold the 'Menu' and center button till the apple logo shows. Hope this helps

Have you checked to confirm if the charger is the right one for it? If yes then I will ask you to recheck the battery to confirm if it is well connected.

Make sure it is off and take a toothbrush and dip it in rubbing alcohol (I usually wipe in a paper towel before I go any further to make sure it is not soaking wet). Then brush the charging port. Let dry, then plug in and see what happens.

Have you tried a different power cable?

You can also try to factory restore it. Press and hold the menu button and center button and the same time until you see the itunes logo screen. Plug into a computer with iTunes and restore the device - this will ERASE all data on device
