home button works but seems recessed and harder to use

This makes it tricky to double click. Is the problem with the button or the switch/cable?

Options

A lot of these home buttons are held on by a special kind of 2 sided tape. You may get by with disassembling and replacing the 2 sided tape. Hower getting the glass off without breaking it requires great skill.
