There’s a gap at the top when I try to put the screen back onto the phone. I noticed the top “clips” are different on my original display (metal rectangles at the top) than the repair (tiny black plastic clips). Any thoughts on this?

Metal rectangles are only for the iPhone 8 and 8 plus replacement screens.
I do not recommend trying to use this screen as it is incompatible with the iPhone 7, it’ll either not fit or the phone will get stuck on apple logo and boot loop.
If this were to be the correct screen it would have plastic clips on the top instead of the rectangle hole metal clips at the top.
