Oil leak from exhaust

Oil can seep into the exhaust system if the piston rings are worn or if you turn the engine on its side. The oil that gets into the pistons is pushed out without burning. If the liquid coming out of your engine is slick and smells more like oil, suspect one of these two causes.

This could be the solution to the problem when the oil gradually starts leaking past the rings over a period of months, or years - BUT Briggs (and some other engines have a problem with the engine running basically with no smoke 1 day and then blowing smoke and oil out of the exhaust the next day - it has to do with the pulsation system which powers the fuel pump
