There is the camera at the top, underneath it the microphone and to the left of the microphone is where this dull red light appears I do not notice it during the day.

There are ambient light and proximity sensors beside the front camera, you’re probably seeing some reflected light on them.

No, this is not the right answer. The actual answer is that whenever you are in a moist, wet, or damp place, that light will turn on. Some people say it’s the government watching you. That’s crazy!
