Phone gets water damage at 5cm
So just trying to test my phones water resistance got me into a whole lot of trouble when my Face ID stopped working 5 min after then after restarting the phone a green line then the screen going fully dead. I then go to the apple store and they tell me I have water damage and the logic board is broken. And they will charge be $800 for a new one. This is the second phone they have neglected to fix after an issue. My 7’s audio ic chip was &&^&@@ and needed to be d-soldered then put back on. With many other people having this same problem and getting no help from apple they were forced to buy a new phone just like me. Well their false advertising has screwed up my phone and now I’m left with the option to sue as I am fed up and so many other people are too. Let me know how I should go about this process. I will be sueing for $3000 CAD and also want to make them release any defects their products have in the future with a defects website and them recalling every phone that has this problem. Let me know your opinion. I have seen a guy sue amazon and they ended up just paying him out so I think this is the only way of going
Is this a good question?

Same thing happened to my 256gb IPhone XS completely fried because something spilled on in inside my backpack. I don’t have any options and kinda confused and !#^&@@ on how it can happen. I think my iPhone was a defect and was possibly improperly sealed but now it looks like i can’t do anything

My bf had the same problem with his phone too. His XS Max slid into the sink while he was washing his hands and he took it out of the water ASAP but it died instantly and I tried the go-to-methods but everything has failed so far so I’m scouring the internet for other possible solutions. It isn’t as advertised at all so I totally get your frustration plus fixing the phone with Apple would cost $800 at least when the phone itself already cost $1000++
Also, even any bit of dampness makes his current iPhone X go wonky - the keyboard will not function properly and neither will face recognition and the phone will be unresponsive so yea to anyone reading, it really isn’t water resistant unless you count the moisture in the air

Just had the same issue, and now it hasn’t stop restarting every 50 secs. It’s a pain in the ass that they sell a water resistant product and in the end it doesn’t resists a splash.

I had the same issue with my Xs Max. It slipped into a cup of water and now it’s completely malfunctioning. First, it’s only on silent mood and refused to get on ringer. Secondly, it started going on and off on it’s own. I then decided to update the software, right after downloading the software and decided to install; as soon as I installed the update, the phone went off and is now refusing to come on. Apple really needed to fix this mess before putting it on the market. This is criminal in nature.

I understand man, I posted a similar situation, my XS 256gb was with some wet clothes for probs less than 30s because a water bottle had spilled inside my backpack while camping. The phone quit after 10 mins and the cameras fogged up. Apple says they can’t do anything and it’s because hey are hiding behind their no liquid damage warranty. My 6 took on more water in its life than my 3 month old iPhone
