MacBook Pro retina 15” screen replacement

I’m replacing my screen. I got one from eBay and it had the A1398 but did not work at all as if the screen I got were a “dead on arrival”. I based my ordering criteria by the date when I bought my mac, March 2015. I found an Apple receipt and it says “mid 2014”. When I told the gentleman whom I bought the replacement screen, he mentioned that a 2015 screen will not work for a mid 2014? Is this correct? I thought all I needed was A1398. Did I need to include the EMS 2881? Can someone please tell me how I may be able to get the exact screen part number I need? Do you have the part I need? If so please send me a link. Thank you in advanced. B

Apple MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.5 15" Mid-2014 (DG) is your model with dual graphics.

The EMC number is helpful for indentifying macbooks as it narrows down compatible parts as well.

Search up the Mac's serial number located under the bottom of the Mac which is near where the a1398 label is located.

A1398 tells us that it is a MacBook Pro Retina 15” model. The problem is that even if the screens are identical they are not compatible with different year / mid-late-early models unless specified otherwise.

Once you have the serial number you can input that on everymac.com with the ultimate serial number lookup page.

That will give you the exact model of the MacBook which you can search based off of to find compatible replacement parts.

That is correct the 2015 models are significantly different to the 2014 models.

If we don’t carry it at your store, are you affiliated with any other stores that you trust and recommend where I can get my screen?
