Upgrading the logic board

Hey Guys,

because i need to replace my logic board anyways I was thinking if it is possible to upgrade it as well.

ATM I got a i5 with 8GB ram and i was thinking i could buy the logic board with an i7 16gb ram of the same year (mid 2014).

Is it Even possible? A lose of data wouldnt be a problem.

Sure! Replacing the logic board with the proper one for your system is quite doable and not overly hard either! Here’s what it will take MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014 Logic Board Replacement.

The hard part is finding the part ;-{ COVID has hit the parts suppliers hard, making it harder to find them!

Here’s the needed part: 2014 13” MacBook Pro Logic board, 3.0GHz i7 16GB, Apple P/N 661-00612

It should be less than $500 USD for a used board and a little more if new. Just be careful you have a good warranty on the part.

You’ll be using your current SSD drive so you won’t lose anything.
