How do the joycons charge?

i was just wondering how the charging mechanism works on the switch, I know you just slide em in to make them charge but how does it work? is is wireless? are there contact clips that connect the joycons to the switch?

When connectors work, you don’t use wireless, extra cost and less efficient.
