In June 2017 Apple updated its 13" MacBook Air with a newer Broadwell Intel Core i5 processor, resulting in slightly increased performance and battery life.

MacBook won't always power on

I've had some interesting problems with my Mac recently, it won't boot or respond to the power button. However sometimes it will just boot at random regardless of if I press the power button but as soon as I close the Mac or it goes to sleep it completely shuts down. solid green magsafe indicator and no signs of life from it. Can't reset SMC or pram as it is acting as if it is completely shutdown or out of battery. Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@danj But I cannot boot my MacBook and now after it randomly turns on it will shutdown within a couple minutes and be totally inoperable. I can't control when it comes to life. I don't think I can get it to stay on long enough to install software. Thanks though

Disconnect the battery following this guide MacBook Air 13" Early 2017 Battery Replacement stop at Step 3

Now press & hold the power button for 15 secs with nothing connected. Next carefully plug in your MagSafe charger. does the system startup and stay running?

@Nicholas Gray - Beg, Borrow or Steal ;-}

@danj nothing. I did a SMC reset which worked as the status led went from orange to green then back but still no signs of life.

@Nicholas Gray - Not good your logic board is bad.

@danj can anything be done about that other than just replacing the board? What confuses me is sometimes it will just turn on, either from a really long delay or just randomly. And then the computer will function as normal for 2-3 minutes then die
