Laptop fan is grinding against its casing.
I have an MSI CX62 6QD, I haven’t used it for the last couple of years because it was broken. But that’s beside the point.
I’ve gotten the laptop to functionally work now, however, there is still an extremely loud buzzing or grinding noise coming from the laptop fan. I opened the fan casing and I found that the fan had been scratching against the casing of it, causing an extremely loud sound. I believe that the fan is unbalanced and keeps swaying to hit the casing because if I push down on it while it’s spinning to stabilise it, the sound disappears. I’ve tried bending the fan casing around it so it wouldn’t hit but it doesn’t seem to work, the fan is hitting both sides of its casing and there are visible marks all around it.
Would replacing the laptop fan with a brand new fan for the same model fix the fan noise and thus the laptop?
Is this a good question?
