@ghxst does the power LED stay on? If so, in a a darkened room and the TV on etc. shine a flashlight at an angle against the screen. Do you see shapes/silhouettes of anything? If so, it is the backlight that has failed. Common issues with LG TV‘s of lately.

Hey @oldturkey03

When i power it on the LG LOGO flashes and if i put a flashlight toward the screen i can see whats on the screen (Menu etc)

So im thinking it is the backlight issue? Would this be an easy fix or should i not waste my time?

by

@ghxst If you can see shadows / shapes that corresponds to what should be seen, then yes, it's your backlight. Either Backlight LED strips or the backlight driver circuit.

@ghxst fixing things is never a waste of time. That is what keeps us going and that is what we need to do. Anyhow, its's an LG and they are having issues with subpar backlight strips. You did not give us your TV's model number so we really don't have an in depth answer for you. Something like this 42" LG TV LED Strip Replacement Tutorial should be pretty similar of what your TV would need, to get fixed. Not complicated but maybe a bit of a PITA to do it. Just remember

REPAIR IS WAR ON ENTROPY

@ghxst 42" TV. You got that! Take your time and work through the details. Only point of caution is, the actual LCD does not like to flex. So, that is the part that needs a bit of finesse and an extra hand.
