Unable to pair iPhone 3GS to HP Laptop Bluetooth
I have not been able to pair my iPhone to my laptop (personal hotspot) Even if I have BT turned on the iPhone does not see the laptop.
Is this a good question?

I finally got an answer to this problem. The Bluetooth module was disconnected from the cable! Around the time I started having problems the HP guy had my system in pieces and I guess it got missed. Guess it wasn't that important to me though if it took me till now to sort it lol

I believe you will find the instructions for what you want to do if you click here.

Thanks for the link and idea, I don't think it is a tethering issue as I can tether my iPhone to the PC with the USB cable, but not via BT
kind of the opposite of what richdave wants? But thanks for that link AB...snaffled and stored!
1. Personal Hotspot is a function to open a local W-Lan Network.
2. If your laptop has bluetoth activate it and switch mode to invisible mode or just use the "add apparat" button

Thanks for your reply. I have the BT enabled and know what the Personal Hotspot does. I currently connect to the iPhone with a cable but wanted to use the BT as it is simpler - no cable required. my iPhone just doesn't see the PC. I cant see anywhere on the PC how to check/change invisible mode and what does "add apparat" mean?
huh! bad day at work for me too btw
Sorry for my bad english... What i mean was: My bt adapter has a function for adding a device. I simply click that and press connect, confirm on my iPhone and it works (if bt is enabled and visible on iPhone). I guess u have to repair your iPhone.
iPhone pairs OK to my GPS, car kit, SWMBO's car etc - phone BT works ok
Enable iphones bluetooth in discoverable mode. If you are using Windows 7, simply go to control panel and open Devices and Printers (under hardware if in category view). Click on add device. A window should appear with any available devices. iphone should appear here. If there is more than one iphone option choose access point. once you have paired your devices, probably via pin numbers, you should be tethered.

What are you wanting to do with bluetooth? iPhone has some limitations there. What model of iPhone do you have?

Hello ABC, I have iPhone 3GS and I want to use BT to connect to the personal hotspot for internet access rather than the USB cable which I currently use successfully

UPDATE - I was trying to pair my iPhone to the GPS and the GPS sees the PC BT. That suggests my PC has the BT enables and is broadcasting, but the iPhone does not see it

Bt on iPhones used to be notoriously naff.. I'd consider that you have to practically be on top of the other device to get a response a sign that bt is just a word they put put on a list but isn't a real capability. Does your phone connect to any other Bluetooth devices?
