Swapping Touch Id Flex

Hello I want to ask you something. I have one of my customer's Macbook pro and touch id flex been torn off while I was trying to take it off for keyboard replacement. So what I want to ask what if I find another original button and cut off the flex and do the all ways with the other button will it work again? So the chip which includes the verifation of touch id is it under the button area or on of the chips on flex? do you know and if it is on flex what if I swap those chips too? Do you think it will work anyway?

Thank you

Well, splicing a a ribbon cable is not easy! And sadly this cable flexes so over time it will fail.

So can you glue a hair over-lapping them end to end? Thats the widths of the copper traces!

Take a look at these images.

The L part is where some of the logic sits. Even on my best days I wouldn't attempt it. If you do get it to work it will be short lived. So they should migrate their stuff over to a new system.
