Why does my power button power source light keep blinking when I put in my laptop's charger?

Can you please answer the below to help with troubleshooting?

* How long have you had the laptop?

* If more than a couple years, is the battery within it the original one and do you use the original power cable ? I

* Does your battery actually charge/does it give any notice in the lower right-hand side system tray while its's plugged in with the power adapter?
