I want to splice the power cord to be hardwired in but idk how

I know how to solder and would like to remove the port completely and just have the powerblock permanently attached, I don't know how to tell whats positive, negative, neutral. Any help would be appreciated

You need to use a multimeter, to check voltage and to check resistance (ohms). Even a cheap multimeter from amazon will work.

The center of the plug that goes into the laptop is usually positive. +20 volts dc. The outside ring is then ground, 0 volts.

If you are soldering inside the laptop you have to solder the + wire to where the tip/center metal connects. Use the ohms setting of the multimeter the tip to wire resistence to confirm where the + wire is soldered.

But there is risk of course. If you're not careful inside you could damage the laptop.
