Is it ok for my battery adhesive to be slightly coming off?

Is this a swollen battery? The outer layer of the battery feels thin/spongy when I push down on it.

Well… I wouldn’t leave it in that state. Do you think it’s loose enough to fully remove? If not a little solvent should help.

But what you do after pulling the battery is what’s the most important!

Fully clean off all the old adhesive from the battery and case. Leave the glued on plastic sheet. Now I use the 3M extra large Command Strips. Using two strips evenly spaced on each cell with the pulls accessible from the sides so it’s quick work to replace the battery when it’s time. Or use some Tesa tape but don’t over do it as it has a strong grip.

@danj Hey Dan, thank you for responding to my question. I guess what I meant to say and I couldn't find the words since I'm not an expert in this field is the black sheet/sticker covering the sheet is raised off the battery. I tried to push it back down to see if it would stick back on to the battery but it just popped back up. I'm not sure what the material actually is, I've added a picture to my question to show you what I'm talking about.

@tashi108 - That’s a swollen cell. The cell is held within an air tight bag os sorts as the cell degrades it off gases slowly inflating the bad as the pressure is not that high yet it can be a bit spongy. Sorry time for a new battery. To help you see the state of the battery I would use this gem of an App CoconutBattery post a snapshot of the Apps main window here so we can see as well.

@danj Hi Dan, thanks again, I went ahead and uploaded the screenshot as you requested. The condition of the battery is stated as "Good" in coconut but as "service recommended" in the actual System Report. Let me know your thoughts and how urgent you think it is to replace the battery. Your description of air filled is spot on

@tashi108 - Yup, time for a new battery.

@danj Okay. I figured. Thanks for your advice 🙏🏼💫
