Early 2011 MacBook Pro runs slowly after say 30 to 60 minutes

After startup, the response is fast. After say 30 to 60 minutes of use, the cursor response gets slower and slower. A 'restart' does not improve the response, but a 'shut down' and 'start' will fix the problem for another 30 to 60 minutes. The GPU has a 256 ram. Am running High Sierra.

My late 2011 MBP is OK in all respects and has 1024MB Ram and is running Sierra.

Is my problem due to High Sierra and the small GPU memory. The SSD won't allow me to install Sierra because of some Apple crap that won't allow a SSD to run anything less than High Sierra.

Can someone advise me.

Most likely your battery has failed, let’s get a better view of things install this gem of an App CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the Apps main window and post it here so we can see things.
