Altec Lansing inMotion iMT800 no power at ac adapter

I am having the same issue as others I have read and also the batteries work. So I was wondering if a cord that is a wall outlet transformer that is 12v dc could be spliced and ran to the battery terminals 1st positive and last negative, independent terminals? Would that not be the same as 8 d cell batteries?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @mandykelly

Doing this would mean having a cable permanently attached to the speaker which may be bothersome. It also needs to be tethered correctly so that flexibility where it leaves the speaker would be minimal ensuring that there's no strain on the cable connections in the speaker.

Other than that you may have to check what the current rating is on the adapter that you have now that you wish to bypass, to ensure that the replacement 12V supply can supply the same amount of current and not less.
