Samsung Galaxy S III is On But Screen is Blank

Hello,

I am unaware of this phone's history since I got it from auction. This phone turns on and makes sounds when I press the volume button, but the screen is not even functioning at all.

What could be the cause of the issue? Can it be resolved?

Thanks

@tanveerzubair all of this "phone turns on and makes sounds when I press the volume button" would lead me to replace the display. A failed screen will exhibit all of these symptoms. Anyhow, replace he display and then re-evaluate Samsung Galaxy S III LCD Display/Front Glass Replacement - iFixit Repair Guide

How would all the pixels fail on an AMOLED screen? I think the actual display is fine. Something else could be wrong. Anything else I could try before thinking about buying a screen as a last resort?

@tanveerzubair You seem to have some misconceptions about how screens fail. Yes, you can have individual pixels fail, but it's just as common to see screens with no display at all. There are delicate connections between the flex cable and the glass the circuitry is printed on that are all too easy to dislodge as a result of a blow or a fall, and once that happens there's no fixing it; all you can do is replace the screen.

@dadibrokeit Alright. I may just use it as a parts phone. Screen replacements are more expensive than the value of the phone itself anyway.
