This is true what Erik says, without background information we can’t know for sure what is wrong.
I can tell you how long a piece of string is, but it still doesn’t tell you how long the string is.
However, apart from damage to the audio system the main culprit is grime, fluff or pocket lint blocking the speaker grills.
Start by checking the top and bottom speakers for signs of blockage, if they aren’t clean then do a search on YouTube for how to clean phone speakers.

More information is needed in order to help you, define what you mean by "not working properly". There are many ways that sound may not work as it's supposed to.
And did something happen to the device before you got this problem, if so, what?
