Why did my touch screen suddenly stop working with touch?

Suddenly my note 10+ stopped working by touch - it only works with the S pen so I don't have it connected right now. I loved that phone - and not in a financial situation to get a new one . Thanks for any help .

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi Crystal,

Your phone actually has two separate digitizers built into the screen; one for the normal finger use and the other for the S Pen. Assuming you've tried all the software solutions like rebooting on up to a factory reset then chances are your digitizer has failed. Since it's bonded to the display, the only solution is to replace the whole screen assembly.

iFixit has a guide giving you step by step instructions for replacing the screen here:

You can support iFixit's repair efforts by purchasing your replacement screen from them.

It is admittedly rather expensive, but buying it from iFixit gives you a lifetime warranty and the certainty you're getting a quality part. And for an extra couple of bucks you can get the Fix Kit version that includes all the tools and parts needed to do the job right. Of course, even at the full price it's still cheaper than buying another phone.

However, I hear you when you say money is tight. In those cases I'd suggest looking on sites such as Amazon, eBay and AliExpress for aftermarket screens. I haven't looked, but frequently you can find screens that use the older LCD technology for a much cheaper price. The display quality will be lower and it will use up the battery faster, so keep that in mind when considering a LCD replacement.

Otherwise, AliExpress will generally be the cheapest but the shipping may take a while. Amazon can often be the fastest, but you may end up paying a bit more, while eBay will mostly be somewhere in between.

You can always check with local repair shops on what they would charge for a screen replacement if the repair seems to be outside your comfort zone.

Good luck and let us know how it all turns out for you.
