Testing output from a distance

I need a decent way to check speakers from a distance. Part of my daily test routines is to walk around a store, and try to hear the speaker 50-60 feet above my head. This doesn't always work, retail environments being what they are.
Is there a sound meter, or an attachment for an android phone that i could use to see if the speaker is broadcasting, without having to request a lift, and physically go up to the speaker? A typical retail store that I have to check has over a hundred speakers, all 50-60 feet above the ground.
Suggestions greatly appreciated!

Hi @tech043

For a quick way to find out the speaker output level at ground level where it is heard by people you can always use a mobile phone app for Apple iOS or Android. (app examples only, there are plenty of others available).

You could always use a dedicated Sound Level meter as well (examples only)

If the speakers are situated close to each other it may be difficult to determine at a distance, which one the sound is coming from however, unless you can turn them off individually somehow.
