Pink Screen of Death after housing swap

I swapped the housing for a customer on an iPhone 14 pro max with an OEM/Pull housing from a well-known supplier. I have done so many times without any issues. This time I am getting a reboot with a pink screen every 2 to 3 minutes. I have the panic log, and it points to the power flex. I would like to know has anyone had this issue and is it normal for the power flex to function but, still cause panic? I have another power flex and wireless charging flex on order.

panic(cpu 1 caller 0xfffffff048921f84): SMC PANIC - ASSERT: target/d74/target.cpp:266: 0, SMC BSC failure, spreadsheet ver(*10) 150

S.sensor array 0 - 4 is 0x0, 0x100000, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0

F.sensor array 0 is 0x0

- Misc(2) OUTBOX1 not ready

ASSERT: target/d74/target.cpp:266: 0, SMC BSC failure, spreadsheet ver(*10) 150

S.sensor array 0 - 4 is 0x0, 0x100000, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0

F.sensor array 0 is 0x0

Update (01/08/25)

The power button flex on an "OEM" housing with small parts was causing the issue. Swapped it out and no more pink screen of death.

Hi Brian,

Sorry I missed your question first time around or I might have been able to save you some time figuring out what was wrong with it.

We have a wiki page dedicated to the specific kernel panic you're seeing, the SMC Panic Assertion Failed error.

iPhone SMC Panic Assertion Failed - iFixit

The errors are specific to the particular model of phone, and for yours that code, 0x100000, points directly the the part you already figured out was the issue, the Power Button Flex Cable.

Hopefully this may help someone else who comes along with the same issue.
