2DS Boots to Menu but Freezes

I have a 2DS original I needed to replace the motherboard because the clip broke off from it but when i installed the new MB it will boot to the menu but it will crash when i select an app (i.e. Camera, Settings) and also it will not boot with a game in the 2DS. I did also replace the rear camera ribbon cable I bought from ebay.

Installed Motherboard: FTR-01(no Wificard installed)

Old Motherboard: FTR-20

I received the new Wifi module and installed it on the 2DS and it worked no more freezing in the app menu and loaded my game. Turns out with out the Wifi module it will boot but it will freeze when you open any app in the menu. Thank you for the assistance.

if anyone missing a Wifi Module, the name of them are DWM-W082 but not all 2DS motherboards need them only if you have the connection for it next to the rear camera ribbon cable on the motherboard.

Hi!

Please check all the connections, ribbon cables, etc. If you are not sure, please share some pictures with us.

You can also try the following: “Hold down the volume + and volume – buttons simultaneously, then press the power button while continuing to hold the volume buttons. This will put the device in recovery mode.”

And see if you can reset it there.

Also please check if all other components and ribbon cables are OK.

I tried to go to recovery mode but the wifi flashes and power flashes also and then shuts off completly without booting into the menu.

Alright, everything is connected fine. So there is either something wrong with the new motherboard or with the software/firmware. Did the motherboard had custom firmware installed on it??

Just a heads-up, the 2DS doesn't have volume buttons; it uses a slider. Recovery mode (or Safe mode) is accessed by holding (L) + (R) + (A) + (D-Pad Up) on boot. Using the 3DS's Safe Mode

I do not know it wont let me go into settings at all and when i try recovery mode it just flashes the power and wifi lights and shuts off. I bougjt the motherboard on ebay and i didnt have an issue with another motherboard from the seller. the only diffrence is this one is a FTR-01 motherboard with no wifi card. I did order a wifi card just in case if that could be the issue.

Hopefully that will work. I heard that the 2DS won’t boot without a wifi card. But hopefully that is it. It does sound like software related. Is that correct @darthmango?
