My screen went black
My screen went black
Is this a good question?
Hi @brett80093
Try connecting an external monitor (TV?) to the laptop's HDMI port and check if there's a display from the laptop showing on it. Don't forget to press the Fn+F2 keys (both together) to switch the display from the laptop screen to the external monitor.
If there is a display on the external monitor, switch the display back to the laptop screen and then try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the screen and check if you can see any images at all. They will be very faint if they are there, so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them.
If you can see images, then there's a backlight problem with the laptop's display. This could be due to a faulty backlight power supply on the motherboard, a loose/faulty video cable/cable connection between the motherboard and the LCD panel or a faulty LCD panel.
If you can't see any images, this could be due to a loose/faulty video cable/cable connection between the motherboard and the LCD panel or a faulty LCD panel.
If there's no display on the external monitor, then there's a motherboard problem or perhaps the laptop hasn't even started. Do you see the MSI logo on startup or can you get into BIOS on startup with a working display (press Del key a few times after turning on)? Note: you can't see the BIOS menus on an external monitor
