So for an A1342, model identifier 6,1. Processor 2.26, can I do 2x8 gb for a max of 16 gb too??
Sandra your machine maxes out at 8 GB
Do you think upgrading one stick to 4gb and the other 2gb (total 6gb) will work? Mine is running with 4gb (2x2gb) right now. A1342 running 10.12. Thank you.
@abitarroza yes, you can use a 2 & 4 Gb sticks and it will work, just makes sure they are both
RAM Type: PC3-8500 DDR3 Min. RAM Speed: 1066 MHz
According to this site, with the latest EFI update, which is included with App store updates typically (and verified on this mid-2010 MacBook), with Lion or higher it can use 16GB!

I will order two 8GB sticks and see, but it makes sense.

seems that at one time for macbook Late 2009 A1342 used 12GB. One 8GB and One 4GB, it ran hot all the time and curdled the rubber under the bottom panel. But it was nice, also had 16GB Macbook A1342, 2010, 7 so they were each comparable, yet….the rubber almost turned into legs underside, it burned out after year.
