"Do you also have an iMac A1418 from mid-2014 with a broken screen and can't find a reasonably priced replacement panel? Trust me—carefully disassemble its internal components, find a suitable case to rehouse them, and if possible, I even recommend installing an external GPU inside the case and hiding it seamlessly. Then give it a boost with OCLP and upgrade the macOS. Honestly, after all that, I don't think I can bring myself to hate it anymore just because of that ridiculously expensive screen."
Let me know if you want a more formal or technical version.

Hello,
I’m dealing with a frustrating issue after my phone fell from a significant height (from the first/second floor) and landed on its back. The back panel shattered but is still intact and stuck to the phone. Initially, the phone worked fine for a few weeks, but now it has developed major problems:
It hangs completely for 2-3 minutes, then enters a reboot loop for about 10-15 minutes.
After several attempts, it occasionally boots up, but hangs again as soon as I start using it.
One of the SIM cards isn’t being detected after the fall (I can’t recall which one, as the phone has been uncharged for a month).
What are your rough guesses about what is causing this issue?
I’m not keen on replacing the motherboard since the phone’s resale value is lower than the cost of a new motherboard. Any advice on possible fixes or diagnostics would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

To find replacement back button boards for the DualSense Edge controller (as shown in your images), you may have a few options:
1. Official Parts from Sony: Start by contacting Sony PlayStation Support, as they may offer official replacement parts or direct you to authorized repair centers that carry these components.
2. Online Electronics Parts Retailers: Some retailers, such as iFixit, eBay, or AliExpress, occasionally carry specific controller parts. Search using terms like "DualSense Edge back button board" or "PS5 Edge back button PCB."
3. Local Repair Shops: Check with local electronics repair shops or video game repair specialists. They may have spare parts or be able to order them on your behalf.
4. Community Forums or Marketplaces: Gaming forums, repair communities, or marketplaces like Reddit’s r/GameRepair or Discord groups focused on controller modifications may have members selling parts.
Make sure any replacement part matches the specifications of your original component for compatibility.

If your Pioneer VSX-832 receiver is not producing sound even though it appears to be working otherwise, here are some troubleshooting steps to try:
1. Check Speaker Connections: Make sure the speakers are properly connected to the receiver. Verify that the speaker wires are securely inserted in both the receiver and speaker terminals, with positive and negative terminals correctly matched.
2. Verify Input Source Settings: Double-check that the correct input source is selected on the receiver. Also, confirm that the input source itself (like a Blu-ray player, TV, etc.) is producing sound by connecting it to a different audio device if possible.
3. Mute and Volume Settings: Ensure the receiver is not muted, and try increasing the volume. Sometimes, receivers can be accidentally muted, or the volume could be set to zero.
4. Audio Settings and Modes: Check if any audio settings or sound modes are incorrect. On the remote or receiver, look for any DSP (Digital Signal Processing) modes that might be activated and disable them to see if that resolves the issue. Also, go into the receiver’s settings menu and check if "Pure Direct" or similar modes (which can sometimes bypass audio processing) are enabled.
5. Factory Reset: If none of the above steps work, try resetting the receiver to its factory settings. Note that this will clear all personalized settings. To reset, turn off the receiver, then press and hold the "Power" button along with another designated button (often "Advanced Surround" or "Band") until "Reset" or similar confirmation appears on the display.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, there may be a hardware fault. In that case, reaching out to Pioneer customer support or a professional technician would be recommended.

I am aware this could be a meter error from a reset. That said, for the price, if this is a meter discrepancy, so be it. I can live with a 21-page discrepancy for $59. I took a massive risk on the unit given the screen is $200+ and pairs to the printer such it can't be reused. I took the risk because I knew the MS631 was one of the units which sometimes recover from a firmware upgrade to fix the touchscreen issue when it occurs. Yes, I applied the update to fully mitigate the bug.
I have an MS631 that I got due to a bad touchscreen that needed a somewhat major repair. It's the same as my MS621, but the price made the risk very much worth it due to the value in the major parts and things like the fuser from the maintenance kit. It turned out to be a bad connection to the touchscreen and given the MS631 is dependent on it nerfed it and made it "useless" until it was fixed. It came from a facility that participates in Lexmark's SupplyPlus contracted supply program (TL;DR: Cheap supplies, you buy the printer), so it wasn't exactly factory fresh when I got it.
However, things got funny when I checked the meter: it has a 0 page count, but a permanent page count of 21. This is compounded by the toner having 21 cycles as well. The other mark I noticed was a telltale mark on the imaging drum foam seal (entry port on the drum) that leans towards use because of heavy residual toner that also transferred to the flap. Here is an example of how it looks when the drum has been run even briefly (14.7k pages, MS621):
Now the MS631 with "0 pages":
This only occurs once you use the printer and do a full print cycle, but some toner probably gets there in shipping (but it shouldn't be much). Based on those little cues, I do believe this was probably lightly used before I got to it, and someone else's troubleshooting led to a cleared meter.
That said, I am also conflicted, as I checked an NIB (opened, unused) unit, and I found a count of 26 on the permanent counter, and it had all the packing materials for the unit, including the ITB protector. But no foam or other factory material. It isn't shown as I didn't consider it in the initial photos but it's a Lexmark SWP (ships with product) drum. The SWP toners do not transfer but I have never transferred a SWP drum. It may be a smoke screen to prevent resale of the SWP drum units.
Based on these clues and the meter oddity between the two, is this likely testing or a potential diagnostic reset before I even got to the unit?
Here is what I pulled from the printer's internal data that remains:
After putting 2 pages on it to make sure it is counting:
Posted:
That's quite the detective work you've done with the page counts and the condition of the imaging drum! Let's break down the clues and try to figure out what that "MS631 - 0 page count / 21 permanent count" scenario likely indicates.
Considering all the evidence, it's highly probable that the MS631 you acquired underwent some level of diagnostic testing or troubleshooting that involved printing, leading to the 21 permanent pages, and then had its user-accessible page count reset to zero.
Here's why this explanation is the most likely:
Why a simple meter error from a reset is less likely to explain the full picture:
While a meter reset could theoretically cause a discrepancy, it wouldn't explain the physical evidence of use on the imaging drum and the matching toner cycles. A simple reset would likely zero out all counters, not leave a permanent count of 21 with other indicators of printing.
In conclusion:
It's very likely that the MS631 you received was used for some initial testing or troubleshooting (perhaps related to the touchscreen issue before it was correctly diagnosed as a connection problem). During this process, it accumulated 21 printed pages. Subsequently, the user-accessible page counter was likely reset to zero, either intentionally as part of the troubleshooting or as a byproduct of some diagnostic procedure.
For $59, even with 21 pages on the permanent counter and the slight use you observed, it still sounds like you got a potentially valuable unit, especially considering the cost of replacement parts like the screen and fuser. Your risk seems to have paid off!

Hi everyone, I bought a PS4 Pro and it appears to be working perfectly. At first glance everything seems to be fine, just a little slow in loading the system. I try the DVD player, and when I install the games it installs them, but makes strange noises as if it's struggling. I thought it was the reader that was faulty, perhaps the lens, when in the evening I turned it back on and it checked the database, failing, and after a couple of attempts (not even accepting the manual update), it turned back on as if nothing had happened. Now, given that the system in general seems quite slow, could it be a nearly dead hard drive? Or is the reader giving in too? Maybe the lens?
