Background
The Bose SoundLink Mini is a 1st generation Bluetooth speaker which was announced by Bose on June 4, 2013. The SoundLink Mini has a Bluetooth range up to 30 feet, and is constructed out of cast aluminum weighing 1.5 pounds. The speaker's dimensions are 2.0" H x 7.1" W x 2.3" D. It has a custom design with high-efficiency neodymium speakers, as well as a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery that lasts up to 7 hours with only a 1-3 hour charging time. Despite its quick charge time, this first generation Mini has a relatively short battery life when compared to the second generation, as well as no speakerphone.
Identification
Apart from these few changes, the only way to distinguish the first generation from the second generation are the words "SoundLink Mini" being underlined on the first generation, as well as the limiting two colors (Pearl/Carbon) on the second generation. When compared to the Beats Pill and Logitech Mini Boombox, the SoundLink Mini weighs more, but provides better sound quality.
