Yes, there is a label in the phone with IMEI info. For some reason, it’s not show on the pictures, but you can see the label simply by opening the bottom port cover on the left side of the phone and pulling on it. The IMEI is the number written on the top right of the label.
Alternatively, use a heat pack to soften the internal glue/adhesive holding the screen.
In any case, make sure the glue/adhesive comes off nicely, otherwise you will have to spend a lot of time cleaning off glue residues before putting the new adhesive on.
And the heat will be applied more evenly. This is a good idea!
You could try, but the likelihood of not getting the screen adhesive right and making a mess of the whole thing is high.
I would follow the whole procedure, it’s a bit long but not very hard.
In any case, get more than one screen adhesive, so that you can fail and retry if needed. I find that putting the adhesive on the screen/backpane is the part that requires most precision, in the end.
The guide doesn’t mention that one needs new adhesive for the battery (the one I bought isn’t sold with it). It would therefore be wise to mention what kind of adhesive (two-sided, what thckness, etc.)
I don’t know how others feel, but the tutorial video makes no sense to me. I’m not sure what is being done. No words on screen, no voice,, no instructions whatsoever. How is one supposed to follow this video?
Also, it says “1 step”, wow sure, what’s the step exactly? Plunge your phone’s motherboard in some liquid and tada, magic?
