If you have verified the voltage from the adapter, plugged in the adapter and there is no indication it is charging, then it is something internal. Unfortunately, my friend, it sounds like it is going to require a hands on tech to figure it out. It is possible it is still a bad adapter even if you read the right voltage, if the failure limits the voltage when plugged in. Only checking it on another computer or using another adapter will verify.

Read moreIf, by the LED lights, it appears to boot up, then it is a display issue. HPs seem to have an issue with flex cables loosening up. If it appears to boot up, test for a backlight issue. If not, remove the KDB and see if you can reseat the video cable. Some are accessible that way, otherwise you need fully open it up to do that. If not that, then it is a bigger problem. Video card if it has one, MB, or screen.

there is double face tape at each end of the chromed plastic piece along with the tabs that need to be unhooked when prying off. So be tender and do not use brute force. Also, the clear plastic piece will likely just fall out so be aware.
You must use a very small blade Phillips screwdriver. A #0 will be too big. Significant downward pressure is also needed to break the screw loose and prevent stripping the screw. It feels like they are glued in. The battery is available in many places and is a 14500 type rated at 750mAh with a 4mm tab on the positive side and a 2.5mm tab on the negative side.
