Hello! My name is Yvan Gaona. I'm majoring in Technical Communication and Media Arts at the University of North Texas. I decided to double major because I wanted to continue learning about videography with Media Arts while learning a new skill set in Technical Communication.

I've been a videographer for about two years, but I've gone under many titles: Editor, director, video producer, etc. For almost all of my roles, I worked on school projects, but I also did a few freelancing projects like weddings and advertisements.

So how did I get into Technical Communication? During the summer, I received an email encouraging new students to sign up for the Technical Communication major at the University of North Texas. I was intrigued by the small size of the department and the highly valued skillset that is technical writing.

Outside of my academic life, I'm the Vice President of Membership and Events for the Entrepreneurship Club at Frisco and a behind-the-scenes photographer for North Texas Television's Marketing department. During my free time, I like to socialize, reflect on my life, and learn new things.

I want to be a school counselor one day and guide others toward becoming their best selves, and I like Ifixit because it provides me with the opportunity to simplify complex problems for others. I believe in the need to take better care of our planet, so I'm all in for repairing our technology over throwing it away.
