Hello, One solution I use involves using a Lightning Dock Base. I feed it with a lightning cable to a charger and connect a mini jack cable to the speaker. Just place your iPhone/iPod in the dock and voila, listen and charge without problems.

Indeed, to access the upper disk, when there is only one disk, there is no need to disconnect anything else, the disk comes out easily by simply lifting it slightly and sliding it out; jump to point 17.
